Natural stone & landscape masonry · Melbourne

Real materials.
Built to age well.

Natural stone paving, walls, steps and crafted landscape details designed for the site and built as part of one complete environment.

Material and method together

Stone is only as good as the decisions beneath it.

Natural stone brings variation, weight and an honest material character—but lasting work depends on suitability, preparation, drainage, structure and skilled installation.

We select stone for the actual conditions: intended use, exposure, heat, slip resistance, staining, maintenance, availability and the way it will weather. The pattern, format, joints, edges and transitions are resolved as part of the design.

Story Landscapes delivers natural stone and masonry as part of complete residential landscapes. We are not a small-area paving repair or supply-only service.

How we approach it

Use stone honestly and appropriately.

01

Suit the stone to the use

Appearance matters, but so do density, finish, heat, slip, weathering and ongoing care.

02

Build the base correctly

Movement, settlement and drainage failures usually begin beneath the visible stone.

03

Resolve every edge

Steps, thresholds, coping, garden edges and changes in material determine whether the work feels considered.

Common questions

Before the project begins.

01

Which stone is best for Melbourne landscapes?

There is no universal best stone. Selection depends on the application, architectural context, exposure, finish, maintenance expectations, availability and budget.

02

Do you install client-supplied stone?

Material procurement and responsibility need to be resolved with the complete project scope. We do not assume an unknown product is suitable simply because it has already been purchased.

03

Can you repair a small paved area?

Small isolated repairs are generally outside our project model. We focus on substantial stonework delivered within complete landscape design and construction.

04

Does natural stone require maintenance?

Yes. Stone, grout and sealers weather and need appropriate care. We explain the realistic maintenance implications during selection rather than describing any material as maintenance-free.
